Let's kick off 2015 the right way. 

Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence are hot topics today with broad implications for society.  This evening we will explore the early history and the present state of Machine Learning.  The implications of artificial intelligence have been of interest for over sixty years.  Of course, today there are competing views regarding the future of Machine Learning and AI.

 

Keynote Speaker:  Institute Professor Joel Moses

 

Dr. Moses is a senior statesmen of computer technology.  He has been featured in the 2010 documentary on the promise of artificial intelligence and robotics "Plug & Pray."

 

Professor Moses is one of only 13 Institute Professors at MIT, the highest honor the Institute grants.  He is a co-developer of the Knowledge-Based Systems concept in Artificial Intelligence.  Moses has served as MIT's Provost, Dean of Engineering, and Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

Jason is one of the technology industry's luminary spokespersons and has been featured as a guest speaker on TED talks.

 

Jason is Editor in Chief and Publisher of MIT Technology Review.  He directs the editorial, platform development, and general business strategy of digital and print publications, as well as MIT Technology Review-sponsored events. 

 

Before joining MIT Technology Review in 2004, he was the Editor in Chief of a biotechnology magazine he founded.  Between 1996 and 2002, he was the editor of Red Herring magazine,  which the Wall Street Journal called the 'bible of the dot-com boom.'
